What is 3R&H?

3R&H is a team of 4 university students which is currently majoring in Bio-engineering at Royal University of Phnom Penh. Our team's vision focus on environmental impacts such as, air pollution, water pollution and land pollution . 3R&H is looking forward for the solution to solve these issue in order to fight the climate change that happening and will be more serious in the next few decades.

In our current project, we are focusing in eco-toothpaste which is an eco-friendly product. We propose this idea because the existing toothpastes that we seen in the market are packaging in plastic and most of the ingredients are not eco-natural. Moreover, our produce isn't just eco-friendly, but also promote local material which will provide a lots of benefits to Cambodia people.

Eco-paste or plastic-free toothpaste is becoming increasingly popular lately. Our Eco-pastes is refers to toothpaste tablet that doesn’t come in the standard plastic toothpaste tube. However, we all want to know if it’s as good as your existing plastic toothpaste. Before we move onto this, we need to understand what is the problem with plastic toothpaste tubes?

The problem with plastic

To begin, did you know that at least 1.5 billion plastic toothpaste tubes are sent to landfill every single year.

Plastic-free toothpaste aims to help put an end to the world's increasing reliance on plastics, which are primarily derived from fossil fuel-based chemicals and typically discarded soon after their use. Plastic-free toothpastes are helping to make a big change in the packaging that is causing catastrophic damage to our planet and wildlife.

With traditional plastic toothpaste tubes, over time, the sun and heat will slowly turn the plastic into smaller pieces until they become so small, they are termed microplastics. These fragments are typically no more than 5 millimeters long and traditionally very difficult to detect. However, they are everywhere. These microplastics end up in our water, inside human bodies, and are often eaten by wildlife. For our wildlife species, these microplastics can be very dangerous, they often accumulate inside the animal’s body creating health issues such as punctured organs and intestinal blockages which can be fatal.
